Diadora X-Country MTB Shoes
The Diadora X-Country mountain biking shoes with SPD cleats are a budget to mid-range shoe that performs well under most conditions and are durable. I’ve owned these shoes since 2011 and still using them in 2018.
Description
The shoe is white with a black sole. the upper is made from a synthetic material a bit like like a felt material covered in a plastic coating. It has breathing holes in it so it’s not fully waterproof.
The tongue is thin and fixing is done with a ratchet strap and velcro mechanism. The sole has a chunky construction with long bits of rubber down the side for protection. There are two places where you can add studs.
What did I use the shoes for?
I bought them when I was living in London, mainly doing commuting and a bit of mountain biking out to the Surrey Hills. I wanted a pair of which were light and I could still walk in them. That is the problem with a lot of Road shoes as they have no grip and they have a brittle sole.
Where did I get the shoes?
I looked on Chainreaction Cycles and they had a good discount.
How is the fit?
They came in half sizes and a wide fit. My feet are relatively wide and these turned out to be a great fit.
Pros
- Good fit
- Very durable
- Quite lightweight
- Comfortable Adjustment
Cons
- Quite Flexy
- Plastic underside of the shoe where you attach the cleat could be more durable
- The sole did come detached from the main part of the shoe after a while so the glue could be better. However it took about 4 years for this to happen
- They are not waterproof
- Your feet can get a bit cold in the winter
Conclusion
I was impressed with these shoes due to how long they have lasted. You can’t buy this model currently (2018) but there are similar models. I would recommend these shoes for people with wide feet.
