Ring of Kerry, Ireland

I flew with S to the Ring of Kerry. I took my Soviet Zenit camera with me. I shot footage for a “remaking” project I was doing at Goldsmiths. In this case the footage was all about natural processes, erosion, abandoned objects, a passage from human built landscapes to natural landscapes. I created a short film and played around with the sound effects. For example, I cut the sound of the burning moorland and overlaid it with the sound of traffic and rain in Newcross.

Working and Travelling in Dubai, UAE and why it blew me away

On the 5th October I flew to Dubai, UAE to work on exhibition stands at the Gitex technology trade-shows in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. I returned to Dubai on 27th. This was a great opportunity to finance my Goldsmiths university course, get a change of scenery and be paid to travel somewhere. At first I would have thought Dubai wouldn’t appeal to me but there were many reasons to be intrigued.

I have always found bike touring to be an intensely personal and introspective endeavour. Journeys with companions have been a lot of fun, and I definitely owe my love of adventure cycling to early trips with friends around the U.K and Europe. As I rode further and longer though, I began to wonder what it was I was hoping to take from a multi day bike ride. Sure, fun is always an important issue, but there’s something else that happens, or can happen when touring.

Visiting Workshops of Makers

A project I did at Goldsmiths was about “remaking” making. I had to go and look at making in progress and then have a think if I could a sort of making differently. I went to a range of workshops, shot some film, took photos and made drawings. Joiner Jail Make, Deptford
