    June 30, 2015

A mountain bike race at Tbilisi Sea. Number cards were sticky backed sheets of plastic. The local Red Bull promo team were there - clever marketing. Post-race gathering. Cube bike shop sponsoring with flags and gazebo. It was a really enjoyable route with great views over Tbilisi Sea and the city.

  • Tusheti, Georgia Mountain Bike Tour

    June 11, 2015

We made a trip to Tusheti last week with some six guys from Israel. After a late flight in we hit the road with the 4x4 cars loaded with the trailers with the bikes. On the way we picked up lunch, changed money, and headed for the Gombori pass, Kaxheti and the roads to the high mountains of the Caucasus. Our guests were experienced bikers. In Israel mountain cycling is very popular.

  • Running Mountain Biking Tours in Georgia and Keeping it Interesting in Tbilisi

    May 31, 2015

I am in Tbilisi and I’ve been here since the beginning of June. The reason I returned is a continued strong feeling of connection to the place. I have been working hard for the last year and a half on a new business to provide mountain bike tours. I took an Irish guy on a tour around Tbilisi taking in the local trails and for the following week I took two Australians on a six-day mountain bike tour in the lesser Caucasus range.

  • Interview with Artist Andrew Ranville

    May 18, 2015

Andrew Ranville is an artist who I met through the Royal Geographical Society Explore Weekend displaying his projects in the ‘Communicating your Discoveries’ area. His work is largely project based; location, landscape and object are the medium. Spanning installation, sculpture, film, photography, recordings and print his work explores architecture, environment, fieldwork, mapping and community. His aim is to trigger new awareness and perception in the encounter of the viewer with his work by way of a new path, surface, space or vantage point.

  • Most Common Questions Asked About Going Cycle Touring from Weave of The Ride

    May 18, 2015

How much you spent in each country and how long you were there for? It depended on where I was travelling. I lived very much on a shoe string. In European countries it could be 5 euros per day, but in India 5 Euros would be a very expensive day and I spent more like 2/3 Euros. Of course there were times when I was in a touristy area or decided to stay in a hostel or hotel for a night after a couple of weeks of camping.
