Walks around Peckham and Dulwich
January 1, 2011
My first flat in London was in Peckham, about half way along the Rye. I explored the area by bike, walking and running. I was doing a project about psychogeography and was often trying to pay attention to my emotions whilst walking about. I was also looking for whatever caught my interest in the environment and capturing it in photo stories. Tesco sign takes on an ominous feel next to the sinister looking spike-topped fencing.

Stoke Albany to London Cycle Commute
September 30, 2010
Returning back from the Mongolia trip on public transport, I arrived back into the UK via Calais. I decided to cycle back home from there. Cycling long distances for utility purposes in in the UK was not something I had considered before. However, with my cycle touring experiences, it now was normal for me to cover hundreds of miles by bicycle. I just needed to have the time. After that trip I needed to go down to London a few times and I decided, instead of taking the train, to cycle.

Lincoln's Inn Field Design Research
September 30, 2010
I had to design something for Lincoln’s Inn Field in Holborn. First we had to do a detailed multi-media observational study on the place. I went there with others in my team and we took photos. I recorded audio, conducted surveys and interviews. The goal was just to look and see what really happened there. I also conducted secondary research. My project outcome was a system for doing city walks.

21 Observations about Mongolia - tips for the Mongolia traveller
August 19, 2010
In 2010 I did a trip to Mongolia. After travelling there by the Trans-Siberian train, I cycled 1000km across the open steppe. Having been back in England for 1.5 months now I shared some of my reflections about Mongolia. People There aren’t many people in the rural areas but you’re never far from a settlement of some kind. The people are thoroughly nonchalant on the one hand and thoroughly curious on the other regarding foreigners - they would make good poker players.

Mongolia Mountain Biking Adventure - Some thoughts in retrospect
July 1, 2010
Yesterday I cycled 140km from Dover to Central London where I now reside. I’ve had a lot of time to digest the brilliant travel experience I’ve had in the last 2 months. TODO: Photo from Andy Welch’s cycle adventures The Mongolian countryside was epic The relative shortness of the Mongolia trip compared to previous trips has not made it feel less worthwhile. On the contrary the trip has rejuvenated my interest in cycling and bike touring.

Frozen Lakes, Mosquito infested bogs, and riding down rivers
June 18, 2010
Tom and I headed from Moron, where we had taken some days off to rest, to Hatgal which is a town on the Southern tip of lake Hovsgol. We had grown sick of pedalling across the steppe and were in search of a change of scenary. We met two Finnish and an Australian cyclist and we joined them in the evening for a meal of fresh Yak over the stove in the ger.

June 6, 2010
Over the last week of riding Tom and I have ventured off the beaten track. After the town of Bulgan the asphalt ended. Soon we were back on the dirt tracks which have made cycling more fun overall. TODO: Mongolia - cycling Bulgan - moron - may 2010 (2) We cycled on open steppe and climbed a number of stunning passes. One night we camped on the edge of a wide area of pine forest on the hillside.

Wind-Powered Pedalling and Diving into Walls of Dust Just for fun
May 28, 2010
The last week has been a lot of fun cycling off-road through stunning scenery with a generous helping of bizarre weather conditions. TODO: tom- another plain another day We started out from Ulaan Baatar on a hot sunny afternoon. We cycled through gridlocked traffic but were soon outside of the city. We stopped briefly for a plate of traditional noodles with mutton and vegetables. The countryside has been predominantly wide open hilly grassland.

Soviet Mattress Suspension and Ulaan Baatar
May 22, 2010
Tom and I are now in Ulaan Baatar. The bus journey here was arduous. We expected it to take around seven hours but it took the entire day. However, one day was nothing compared to the four days on the train. The bus had extra springy suspension and Tom and I were lucky (sarcastic) enough to sit in the back seats. This meant that we were sitting directly over the suspension (comprised of a soviet mattress) and the engine.

Taking the Trans Siberian Train to Go Mountain biking in Mongolia
May 16, 2010
I travelled by bus (Eurolines and Ecolines) from London to Moscow. Tom came from Yerevan on trains and buses and took the ferry from Trabzon (Turkey) to Sochi (Russia). We met up and hauled our kit across Moscow on the tube to the train station. We have travelled 5600km on the Trans Siberian train, which took 4 days. Now we I are in Ulan Ude. The countryside from the train looked mainly forested.

Travel Filmmaking - What to Shoot and How to Shoot
January 1, 2010
To Zoom or not to Zoom? Keep zooming to a minimum if you want a closer shot, get closer to the subject rather than zooming. Tripod If possible ensure all shots are ‘locked-off” on a tripod. Lighting Use natural light where possible, best times are early morning and late afternoon Use reflector/lamps if required. Other What makes a story and what doesn’t? Go back to finish a story off if you don’t have all the pieces
