  • How to buy a 125cc legal learner motorcycle

    August 3, 2015

I recently decided to pass the CBT (Compulsory Bike Training). This is the test that everyone needs to take to progress to riding larger bikes. After you’ve completed your CBT, you can ride a moped or a motorbike up to 125cc on the road with L plates (L or D plates in Wales) until you pass your full motorcycle test. The day involved some theory, introduction to the bike, bike checks, riding round a car park learning basic manoeuvring, signalling, gear changes, emergency stop and then 2 hours out on the road.

  • Churchela, Georgian Sweets arrive in America

    July 31, 2015

Much esteemed guests from Boulder Colorado who enjoyed our Svaneti tour last year have been dabbling in some Georgian cooking. The valiant project recreated the world famous ‘Georgian Snickers’ champion sports food ‘Churchela’, made from walnut pieces on a string generously dipped in Wine Molasses. Rumoured to hold more energy pound for pound than even the most high tech sports supplement and last for an entire season in the guiding backpack this delicacy is guaranteed to catch on Stateside and beyond.

  • Interval and Calisthenics Training Videos For a More Effective Workout

    July 29, 2015

I do a lot of running and cycling but doing only these activities means that you might not gain an overall level of all-round fitness. Try Interval and Calisthenics training for a more all-round workout. Interval Training Originally called Fartlek (a Swedish term meaning “speed play”), interval training combines alternating short and fast bursts of intense exercise with slower, easier activity. Fartlek training was a deliberate attempt to complete more work than continuous training by increasing the intensity of workouts.

  • Tusheti, Georgia Mountain Bike Tour

    June 11, 2015

We made a trip to Tusheti last week with some six guys from Israel. After a late flight in we hit the road with the 4x4 cars loaded with the trailers with the bikes. On the way we picked up lunch, changed money, and headed for the Gombori pass, Kaxheti and the roads to the high mountains of the Caucasus. Our guests were experienced bikers. In Israel mountain cycling is very popular.

  • Running Mountain Biking Tours in Georgia and Keeping it Interesting in Tbilisi

    May 31, 2015

I am in Tbilisi and I’ve been here since the beginning of June. The reason I returned is a continued strong feeling of connection to the place. I have been working hard for the last year and a half on a new business to provide mountain bike tours. I took an Irish guy on a tour around Tbilisi taking in the local trails and for the following week I took two Australians on a six-day mountain bike tour in the lesser Caucasus range.

  • Interview with Artist Andrew Ranville

    May 18, 2015

Andrew Ranville is an artist who I met through the Royal Geographical Society Explore Weekend displaying his projects in the ‘Communicating your Discoveries’ area. His work is largely project based; location, landscape and object are the medium. Spanning installation, sculpture, film, photography, recordings and print his work explores architecture, environment, fieldwork, mapping and community. His aim is to trigger new awareness and perception in the encounter of the viewer with his work by way of a new path, surface, space or vantage point.

  • Most Common Questions Asked About Going Cycle Touring from Weave of The Ride

    May 18, 2015

How much you spent in each country and how long you were there for? It depended on where I was travelling. I lived very much on a shoe string. In European countries it could be 5 euros per day, but in India 5 Euros would be a very expensive day and I spent more like 2/3 Euros. Of course there were times when I was in a touristy area or decided to stay in a hostel or hotel for a night after a couple of weeks of camping.

  • Preparation for Running a Mountain Bike Tour

    May 17, 2015

I’ve been preparing to run a mountain bike tour in Georgia with Georiders again this year. We’ve got tours running in June, July, August and September with the current guests. So we are cautiously happy to have had some growth from last year when we only ran two of our major trips with only 2 and 1 guest on respectively. This however, was great experience and was well worth doing anyway.
