Tusheti, Georgia Mountain Bike Tour
June 11, 2015
We made a trip to Tusheti last week with some six guys from Israel. After a late flight in we hit the road with the 4x4 cars loaded with the trailers with the bikes. On the way we picked up lunch, changed money, and headed for the Gombori pass, Kaxheti and the roads to the high mountains of the Caucasus. Our guests were experienced bikers. In Israel mountain cycling is very popular.

Running Mountain Biking Tours in Georgia and Keeping it Interesting in Tbilisi
May 31, 2015
I am in Tbilisi and I’ve been here since the beginning of June. The reason I returned is a continued strong feeling of connection to the place. I have been working hard for the last year and a half on a new business to provide mountain bike tours. I took an Irish guy on a tour around Tbilisi taking in the local trails and for the following week I took two Australians on a six-day mountain bike tour in the lesser Caucasus range.

Interview with Artist Andrew Ranville
May 18, 2015
Andrew Ranville is an artist who I met through the Royal Geographical Society Explore Weekend displaying his projects in the ‘Communicating your Discoveries’ area. His work is largely project based; location, landscape and object are the medium. Spanning installation, sculpture, film, photography, recordings and print his work explores architecture, environment, fieldwork, mapping and community. His aim is to trigger new awareness and perception in the encounter of the viewer with his work by way of a new path, surface, space or vantage point.

Most Common Questions Asked About Going Cycle Touring from Weave of The Ride
May 18, 2015
How much you spent in each country and how long you were there for? It depended on where I was travelling. I lived very much on a shoe string. In European countries it could be 5 euros per day, but in India 5 Euros would be a very expensive day and I spent more like 2/3 Euros. Of course there were times when I was in a touristy area or decided to stay in a hostel or hotel for a night after a couple of weeks of camping.

Preparation for Running a Mountain Bike Tour
May 17, 2015
I’ve been preparing to run a mountain bike tour in Georgia with Georiders again this year. We’ve got tours running in June, July, August and September with the current guests. So we are cautiously happy to have had some growth from last year when we only ran two of our major trips with only 2 and 1 guest on respectively. This however, was great experience and was well worth doing anyway.

Back to Tbilisi for Mountain Bike Tours and Fun
May 11, 2015
Ok so I’m off to Georgia again next week and its going to be very interesting. I will see old friends and reunite and stuff like that. I want to use my language learning and to really face fears. Just to not be on a computer, to warm up away from the computer if I do use it and to get out there and meet people and spend some with people.

What happened after Mongolia?
March 31, 2015
After Mongolia, I returned the UK. Moving to London was a different kind of adventure. London, I realised, was a good place for cycling and walking both for utility and exploring. There were numerous trips out of London between 2010 and 2014 when I left London. A major elephant in the room after Ride Earth was the lack of an output of my filming. Tom was able to complete the Janapar project.

Footwear for Travelling and Multiple Activities - Long Term Research
March 15, 2015
When it comes to footwear, wisdom wins over extreme preparation unless you are really doing something severe or will be doing the same activity for ages (or specialist activity). I have done a bit of travelling and therefore I’ve had some time to test out different types of footwear and I’ve learnt through the experience. My first independent travelling experiences worth mentioning are working in Croatia as a mtb guide. Working as an mtb guide I had cheap sandals for casual, slip on deck shoes for parties (>) and SPD shoes for riding.

Running in Vibram Fivefinger Treksport - Long Term Review
March 5, 2015
My favourite piece of gear over the last couple of years has been my Fivefingers Treksport shoes from Vibram. I have been using them regularly mainly for walking and trail running. Why I bought them I was attracted to the shoe because when I went cycle touring, I took one pair of boots with me which were too narrow. This gradually crushed my little toe. Fivefingers looked like a good way to rehabilitate my feet.

Encouraging Quotes 5
February 3, 2015
Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha Wisdom cannot be imparted. Wisdom that a wise man attempts to impart always sounds like foolishness to someone else Knowledge can be communicated, but not wisdom. One can find it, live it, do wonders through it, but one cannot communicate and teach it When someone seeks, said Siddhartha, then it easily happens that his eyes see only the thing that he seeks, and he is able to find nothing
